We are looking for an Audience Insights researcher to join the StoryFutures Academy team based at Royal Holloway, University of London’s Egham campus. The role sits within the Psychology Department as part of the Centre for Digital Creativity, which brings together Media, Computer Science, Drama, Geography, Psychology, Management and Electronic Engineering. This role is specifically attached to StoryFutures Academy – the UK’s National Centre for Immersive Storytelling. The Academy develops creative training and research programmes in immersive storytelling to ensure that the UK creative workforce is the most skilled in the world in the use of VR, AR and MR.


A successful candidate will work as part of a wider Audience Insights team including psychologists, engineers and ethnographers, interfacing in addition with our diverse partner organisations across the creative screen and technology industries. The post holder will design, run and write up research into a range of different aspects of audience insight, developing innovative methods for understanding audience responses to new storytelling experiences driven by immersive technologies in particular.

Qualified to Doctoral level, the post holder will have a strong understanding of psychology audience research methods. IT and interfacing skills, including programming experience, are a key asset, and some practical experience of working with the creative industries would also be an advantage. Good communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with academic and industrial partners are essential, as are strong writing skills for a variety of audiences.

This is a part-time role (4 days/week) on a fixed-term contract from 27th September 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter, available for a maximum of 16 months.

StoryFutures Academy: Co-Production and Training Producer

We are currently recruiting for a Co-Production and Training Producer to join the StoryFutures Academy team on a fixed term/contract basis, working around three days a week. The successful candidate will have experience in managing the delivery of online and in-person training programmes as well as excellent organisational and communication skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage processes alongside managing different stakeholders' requirements. Ideally, you will have strong knowledge of the UK and global Immersive industry with the ability to connect, engage and promote with others in the sector.
