StoryFutures has once again joined up with ConnectTVT to feature in their Festival of Digital Disruption 2020.

Our StoryFutures Lounge provides the perfect place to learn from the experts on how to support your immersive innovation journey. So if you are a creative business or innovator working with or interested in immersive technologies, or perhaps you’re looking to learn more about innovation with augmented and virtual reality, then our session is perfect for you.

We have invited some of the UK’s leading immersive studios for a unique opportunity to:

  • Learn from Arcade, Nexus Studios and Valkyrie Industries reflecting on their work, approach to innovation and lessons they’ve learned so far
  • Hear about exciting creative storytelling projects spanning AR, VR and haptic wearables
  • Find out about the latest support and funding opportunities at StoryFutures, the R&D programme for immersive storytelling, that works with creative and digital SMEs in the region and Greater London.

The event is open to creative and digital businesses, innovation professionals, academic researchers and students.

Kristina Glushkova, StoryFutures

Kristina leads StoryFutures Immersive Fellowships and R&D On Demand programme delivery and our business engagement activities. Kristina’s background is in creative, digital and socialinnovation and business support. She was previously business controller at Nokia, led strategy work at Ofcom, and supported industry collaboration at Royal Holloway. Kristina was also product director at the digital citizenship tools pioneer mySociety.org,and co-founded two enterprise support organisations: Impact Hub Brixton and Makerhood.

Kristina will give an update on StoryFutures activities, and preview some of the exciting opportunities to come out in 2021.

Jon Megitt, CEO and Founder, Arcade

As CEO and Founder of Arcade, Jon combines his technological and architectural expertise into a business focused on the next big thing - immersive technology.

Arcade is a new type of digital practice founded by architects, tech pioneers, game developers and creative strategists. They specialise in using immersive technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create three-dimensional digital experiences with the uncommon power to connect people to place through play. They work with a variety of sectors including heritage, arts & culture, visitor attractions, brands, retail, events and more, helping them to tell their stories and engage their audiences using the superpower of immersive technology.

Helen Broadbridge, Senior Creative Producer, Nexus Studios

Helen Broadbridge is a Senior Creative Producer with over 9 years of experience working in the creative industry. Helen has been lucky to work with some of the most innovative brands, from Google and the BBC to Disney and Adidas and her portfolio of projects includes games, virtual reality, augmented reality and experimental art installations.

Nexus Studios is a world-leading film and interactive studio with animation and storytelling at its core. With studios in London, LA and Sydney, they partner with like-minded advertisers, brands and broadcasters from concept to delivery, crafting meaningful, heartfelt stories that positively add to the cultural conversation. Their prolific output includes Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning films, Cannes Grand Prix winning commercials and EMMY nominated AR & VR experiences. Working seamlessly across the entertainment and branded content space, their clients include Netflix, Disney, BBC and Sony as well as major brands including Google, Apple, Headspace and Facebook.

Dr Ivan Isakov, Co-founder and CTO, Valkyrie Industries

Dr Ivan Isakov is a co-founder and CTO of Valkyrie Industries. He has studied physics at St. Petersburg State and received PhD from UCL in nanotechnology. After working as a postdoc at Imperial College London, he co-founded an award-winning startup Valkyrie Industries, developing next-generation wearable haptic interface for mixed reality applications. During his career, Ivan has gained an in-depth knowledge of human-computer interfaces, using embodied control and natural interaction in VR, developing both hardware and software solutions.

Valkyrie Industries is an award-winning company developing a universal technology of touch for virtual simulations. Their patented wearable technology provides sensations of weight and texture to human-computer interfaces, enhanced by precise body tracking, biometrics, and machine learning algorithms constantly adapting haptic sensations to users.
